Action AWE (Atomic Weapons Eradication) is a grassroots campaign of nonviolent actions dedicated to halting nuclear weapons production at the Atomic Weapons Establishment factories at Aldermaston and Burghfield. The purpose is for groups and individuals to undertake autonomous actions and events from February 2013 up to the next general election and the vote in parliament on Trident replacement in 2016. To raise awareness of the catastrophic humanitarian consequences of nuclear weapons…in preparation for this the training day is offered.
The actions and protests being planned will have varied roles according to peoples` levels of confidence and whether they are prepared to risk arrest or not. There are plenty of essential support roles for people who don’t want to risk being arrested but do want help bring an end to our nuclear weapons programme and free up the £100bn for more useful public services.
