Burghfield Lockdown - Last call, Video & Press Release!

Preparations for Burghfield Lockdown are gathering pace. With just a few days to go before the big day launches a month of action through March in the lead up to the General Election. Trident and nuclear weapons are already an election issue.

We intend to do our best to keep them high on the list and work towards a result which would see the end of hundreds of billions of tax-payers money being squandered on illegal and useless weapons which are a threat to the world, to any peace globally and the existence of all life. whilst our government slashes vital public services to pay for them.

Support messages for the blockade are arriving in our mailbox. Ken Loach has said,

“Spending £100 billion on replacing Trident is a catastrophic folly. I’m sure I am one of many who support the those, like Action-AWE, who campaign actively and imaginatively against it”

Three bishops have sent messages and campaign groups from all over the world have declared their solidarity and support. You can find a list of supporters in the margins of Burghfield Lockdown area of the Action AWE website.

There will be people filming broadcast quality footage of the blockade at all the blockading points and film will be available for broadcast media on the day.
