Action AWE is committed to nonviolence and asks that anything done in its name meets the commitment. Beyond that caveat we recognise all types of protest as important and necessary. We hope people will join the efforts of Action AWE with a diverse range of actions and events.
Some people will be able to do the vital job of corresponding with MP’s and Ministers to make sure they’re aware of people’s dissatisfaction at our government’s retention of a useless and illegal nuclear weapons system and its investment in a new one.
Others will be able to attend AWE Aldemaston or Burghfield to hold vigils and sitting or walking protests within sight of workers at AWE who will be reminded that the public don’t want their product……and neither do their potential victims.
Various groups will attend AWE with the intention of disrupting the business of the base. These groups will arrive at AWE prepared to be arrested and informed of the consquences of any arrest or subsequent charges.
Action AWE activists and supporters are looking forward to carrying out a wide range of actions and events at AWE and helping others to get involved. From silent religious vigils to wacky innovative and colourful protests and reports that all gateways have been blockaded. Here’s a list of ideas for actions for starters.
