Nuclear weapons crime in the UK has been reported to Thames Valley Police.
2014 has seen a lot of activism against Trident replacement; here’s a quick reminder of how Action AWE has been taking direct action against replacing the Trident nuclear weapons system.
1. On August 9th - Hiroshima Day - we connected Burghfield and Aldermaston with our huge ‘Wool Against Weapons’ peace scarf.
2. In May, ‘Put Down the Sword’ affinity group and Yorkshire CND blockaded Burghfield AWE’s construction gate…
3. … and then Trident Ploughshares used cars to blockade all the gates a few weeks later!
4. In February, we reported Trident replacement to the police, because it’s not just wrong, it’s illegal (and then lots of other groups did the same, in July).
5. And we started planning and getting ready for 2015! Our Act, Speak, Vote > Disarm! month of action will be in March, and there’ll be another outing for the scarf in January, with Wrap up Trident.
